How an civilian HR professionals partner with military to help military professionals and veterans prep for interviews, supporting/creating mock interview processes? BTW I'm a US Navy veteran.
Toyka Roney
57:48
Absolutely true. As an HR professional I had to coach my husband with interviewing, resume writing and workplace conduct prior to his retirement from the AF. As a senior leader in the AF there were practices he couldn't take into the civilian sector as a regular employee.

That is one of the many big differences between Commissioned Officers, Warrant Officers, and Enlisted Soldiers. Officers often are interviewed for positions, where enlisted Soldier assignments are normally based on strength management requirements. I remember as an SFC, I actually interviewed for a job once. That is not typical, though. Enlisted Soldier transition should include some form of interview training. Go Army!

Mohamed Sami Abdel Hamid
01:04:30
I agree .. showing respect is not a bad thing
Patrick Prindiville
01:04:32
Another thing I've seen with veterans is the term "permission to", which isn't necessary
Erin Kirk
01:04:35
I haven't been in the military but it's always Yes Sir, Yes Ma'am with me because of the manners my daddy taught me. I even say Yes Sir to my son. It may be outdated, but it also shows respect.
Kathleen Emmons
01:04:39
That's awesome Kymila!
JOSEPH ORMOND

Tracy Harris
01:06:47
Good point Edward regarding Ageism
Victoria Martin
01:07:01
I agree Edward!

01:07:21
Military terms and acronyms also enter into some conversations, which prompts questions for those not familiar
Dawn McMahon
01:07:22
How do you make it a workplace that makes vets and all people feel ok being innovative?
Leanna Ryan
01:08:00
My husband's biggest difficulty transitioning after his 20 years in the Navy was understanding that civilians have different work ethics. His personal work ethic is what he expected of everyone else
Patrick Prindiville
01:08:18
A MAJOR factor with veterans is healthcare in any organization. There is much debate over the effectiveness of the VA, ESPECIALLY with PTSD, and VA can be a hot button issue for veterans.
Sandra Asher
01:08:21
there is no age discrimination in my organization. If you are the HR Pro in your organization you need to ensure ageism doesn't occur in your company or any type of discrimination for that matter. ;) @EDWARDJOHN
